About me

Hi there!

If you arrived here, it means that we share a common interest: Spanish recipes and culture!
My name is Carmen, and I am from Spain. I was born and grew up in Madrid, where I lived with my family until 2000. I moved to Barcelona for six years, and then I started my trips around the world, working in research.

Even I'm a researcher by formation, I have always been in love with cooking: first focusing on baking (it was something that no one around me did, so it was easy to fill that spot), and later with anything to do with it. I am mesmerized with the science behind the recipes, and to understand how to use different ingredients/techniques to enhance your final dishes. Also, I love trying with new ingredients from all over the world, and sometimes try to incorporate them into my Spanish heritage. The results can be amazing!

I have had the chance of living for short or long periods of time in different countries, and also the opportunity of meeting amazing friends from all over the world. Talking with them I realized how little is known about the Spanish food (besides the ubiquitous paella and sangria), and even how in some regions it is confused with Latin-American recipes (mainly with Mexican food).

Right now I am living in Chicago, and every time I have the chance, I cook traditional Spanish recipes for my friends, where I can see how surprised they are with the fresh and bright flavors of the true Spanish cuisine.

Spanish recipes are typically based on the freshness of the produce, and the importance of their bright flavors in the final product. If you have never tried to cook it, come with me in this journey, you'll love it!

Thanks for visiting my small Spanish corner...
